Bloody Ukiyo-e / Suehiro Maruo / Kazuichi Hanawa / Rare Japanese Art Book

This is a rare and long out of print collection entitled Bloody Ukiyo-e in 1866 and 1988. Artists Suehiro Maruo and Kazuichi Hanawa both contribute new illustrations inspired by classic grotesque/ "bloody" Japanese woodblock prints by Yoshitoshi and Yoshiiku (whose prints are also reproduced in the book). The book includes both Japanese and English text.

This was published in 1989 by Libro Port, a Japanese art book publisher. It is a large, oversized paperback with dust jacket. Many of the images are quite graphic (I selectively chose and cropped a few to give you a sense of the book without offending).

The book is used but in good condition. There is some wear on the corners and along the edges from moving and storage, as well as a bit of waviness/warping on the edges of the dust jacket (see picture).
